Key Features

This Policy is designed to cover the compulsory Third Party Liability as required by Motor Vehicles Act, together with loss or damage to the Vehicle itself. The Policy also provides cover for:

  • Personal Accident
  • For an additional Premium, provides the following
  • Additional Legal Liabilities towards Paid Driver and employee
  • Bi-fuel Kit
  • Nil Depreciation
  • NCB Protection
  • Return to Invoice
  • Cover for Key Replacement
  • Loss of Personal Belongings

Coverage

  • This Policy is designed to cover the compulsory Third Party Liability as required by Motor Vehicles Act, together with loss or damage to the Vehicle itself.
  • Third party liability: Protects against any legal liability arising out of the use of the vehicle, towards third parties arising on bodily injury to / on death of a person and any damage caused to third party property.
  • Loss or damage to the vehicle:

    The policy covers against any loss or damage caused to the vehicle or its accessories due to the following:

    • Fire, explosion, self-ignition, accidental damage by external means
    • Any damage in transit by road, rail, inland waterway, lift, elevator or air.
    • Lightning, earthquake, flood, typhoon, hurricane, storm, tempest, inundation, cyclone, hailstorm, frost, landslide, rockslide.
    • Burglary, theft, riot, strike, malicious act and terrorist activity
  • Personal accident cover: The motor insurance provides compulsory personal accident cover of Rs. 2 lakhs for individual owners (available only if the owner of the vehicle holds a valid driving license) of the vehicle while driving. This is not applicable for a Company owned vehicle. Occupants of vehicles can also be covered for Personal Accident for a maximum Capital Sum Insured of Rs 2 lakh per person. You may also now opt for higher limits in Personal Accident cover.
  • Additional Legal liabilities:

    The following additional legal liabilities may also be opted for at an additional premium:

    • Paid driver employed in operation of vehicle.
    • Employees travelling in/driving the vehicle other than paid driver.
  • Biofuel-Kit: The CNG-LPG biofuel kit can also be covered by paying additional premium.
  • Nil Depreciation: On payment of additional premium Company will indemnify the Insured without deduction for depreciation on parts in respect of approved partial loss.
  • NCB Protection:

    On payment of additional premium Company will maintain the No Claim Bonus (NCB) subject to following:

    1. The vehicle is renewed with us.
    2. There was only one single such claim lodged in the entire Policy period.
    3. The insured vehicle is repaired in a Company Authorized Garage.
    4. The rate of NCB allowed at the time of renewal will be same that he was enjoying prior to the loss.
  • Return to Invoice: On payment of the additional premium, Company will pay the financial shortfall, if any, between the amount Insured receives under section I of the Policy and the purchase price of the vehicle as confirmed in the Invoice of Sale or current replacement price of new vehicle, whichever is less, in the event the insured vehicle is a Total Loss/CTL following an accident or stolen during the period of insurance and not recovered. The Company will also reimburse the first time registration charges and road tax which the Insured had incurred on the insured vehicle. Provided that, insured vehicle is not more than 2 years old from date of invoice/date of registration whichever is earlier on the commencement date of the Policy.
  • Cover for Key Replacement:

    On payment of additional premium Company will reimburse the cost of replacing the vehicle keys subject to following:

    1. In case of lost or stolen keys, all other duplicates of the lost or stolen keys are to be deposited with the Company
    2. In case the vehicle lock is broken at the time of burglary or attempted burglary, the entire set of old keys are to be deposited with the Company
    3. The Company is provided with a copy of FIR lodged with Police by the Insured confirming the date and time of the incident
    4. The replacement should be carried out in a Company Authorized Garage.
    5. Each such replacement claim shall be subject to 10% co-share of the total cost of replacement subject to a minimum of Rs 500/- , by the Insured.
    6. Any items replaced under this Endorsement, will be of the same type, quality, quantity, or standard as the ones which were lost, stolen or replaced.
    7. The Reimbursement under this endorsement will be allowed only once during the Policy period.
  • Loss of Personal Belongings:

    On payment of additional premium Company will make an allowance to the Insured for loss of personal belonging of Insured caused by perils as per Policy wordings and subject to following:

    1. This Endorsement covers the personal belongings of the insured only
    2. Personal Belonging for the purpose of this Endorsement means, items such as clothes and other articles of personal nature likely to be worn by the Insured including jewelleries, and/or used or carried by him like Mobile, Laptop, Audio/Video tapes, CD's, but excludes money, securities, cheques, bank drafts, debit or credit cards, travel tickets, paintings, curios and items of similar nature.
    3. The Company is to be provided with a copy of FIR lodged with Police by you confirming the date and time of the incident and the articles lost.
    4. Any claim under this Section is subject to the precondition that there is a valid own damage or Key replacement claim in respect of the insured vehicle already admitted by the Company under the Policy
  • The maximum amount payable under this Policy is Rs 50,000/- during the Policy period. Each claim is subject to a deductible of Rs 5000/- for Laptop and Jewelleries and Rs 2500/- for Mobiles and Rs 500/- for the rest.

Bonus

  • No Claim Bonus If you do not make a claim during the Policy period, a No Claim Bonus (NCB) is offered on renewals. This discount can go as high as 50%. (NCB will only be allowed provided the Policy is renewed within 90 days of the expiry date of the previous policy.) Transfer of NCB: You can transfer full benefits of No Claim Bonus when you shift your motor insurance policy from another company.
  • Other Discounts Voluntary Excess discount: A further discount on the premium is available if you opt for a Voluntary Excess in addition to the Compulsory Excess. (All Policies carry Compulsory Excess amount which is deducted from the claim amount payable)

Exclusion

  • Any loss/damage to the vehicle and/or its accessories will not be covered if caused by the following-
  • Normal wear, tear and general ageing of the vehicle
  • Depreciation or any consequential loss
  • Mechanical/ electrical breakdown
  • Vehicle being used otherwise than in accordance with limitations as to use
  • Damage to / by a person driving the vehicle without a valid license
  • Damage to / by a person driving the vehicle under the influence of drugs or liquor
  • Loss / damage due to war, mutiny or nuclear risk

Exclusions

  • The Company will not be liable under the Policy in respect of payment towards treatment taken due to:
  • Any condition, ailment or injury or related condition(s) for which you have been diagnosed, received medical treatment, had signs and / or symptoms, prior to inception of your first policy, until 48 consecutive months have elapsed, after the date of inception of the first policy with us.
  • Any disease contracted during the first 30 days of commencement of the policy.
  • Certain diseases/surgeries like Hernia, Hydrocele etc shall be covered after a waiting period of 1 year.
  • Certain diseases like Cataract, Hysterectomy shall be covered after a waiting period of 2 years from commencement of Policy.
  • Joint replacement surgery shall be covered after a waiting period of 3 years from commencement of Policy except done due to an accident.
  • Treatment with alternative medicines like acupuncture, acupressure, osteopath, naturopathy, chiropractic, reflexology and aromatherapy
  • Treatment arising from or traceable to pregnancy (whether uterine or extra uterine) and childbirth including caesarean section, and/or any treatment related to prenatal and postnatal care.
  • Congenital diseases.
  • All expenses related to AIDS and related diseases.
  • Use/Abuse of intoxicating drugs or alcohol.

Plan Options

SBI General firmly believes in providing you with flexible options in terms of where you would like to get treated should the need arise. In case you are living in a Metro or in a Semi Metro, and you would like to get treated there only, the Policy provides you with an option to choose a Plan. This way it helps you to choose a plan which is more appropriate to your need and hence priced accordingly. The Policy firmly puts you in control by giving you the flexibility to select an appropriate option that is just right on your purse. The three available plans are:

  • The percentage of amount shown in the above table is with respect to the admissible claim amount. The Company will make payments only after being satisfied, with the necessary bills and documents.

  • Treatment for de-addiction from drug or alcohol or other substance.
  • Any condition directly or indirectly caused by or associated with human immunodeficiency virus or variant/mutant viruses and or any syndrome or condition of a similar kind commonly referred to as AIDS.
  • Vaccination or inoculation except as part of post-bite treatment for animal bite.
  • Treatment for any mental illness or psychiatric or psychological ailment / condition.
  • Genetic disorders and stem cell implantation / surgery / storage.
  • Treatments in health hydro, spas, nature care clinics and the like.
  • Experimental and unproven treatment.
  • Disease / illness or injury whilst performing duties as a serving member of a military or police force.

Age

Minimum entry age is 3 months and maximum entry age is 65 years. There is no exit age.

Insured

Individual/ Family {For Family Insurance Policy - Family means the spouse, dependent children, parents and parents in law. (For Family Floater Insurance Policy - Family means the spouse and dependent children.)

1, 2 & 3 years.

Sum Insured

Hospitalisation sum insured options are 1, 2 and 3 Lakhs. OPD sum insured will depend on the age, premium and family type. Sum Insured of dependents will either be less than or equal to Proposer/ Primary Insured’s Sum Insured.

Premium

The premium for this product is flat Rs. 8,900, Rs. 13,350 or Rs. 17,800 per annum respectively for a sum insured of 1, 2 or 3 lakhs.

Life is unpredictable and so are medical costs, especially in case of serious illness or accident. Medical costs sometime surpass the insured value of your normal health insurance policy. SBI General’s Arogya Top up Policy lets you add extra protection at low premium so you can smoothly overcome the rising medical costs over and above your pre- decided medical cost.

Sum Insured

  • Age: Minimum entry age is 3 months and maximum entry age is 65 years. In case insured wants to opt deductible of INR 5,00,000 or more then maximum entry age will be extended up to 70 Years. There is no exit age.
  • Insured: Individual / Family {For Family Insurance Policy- Family means the spouse, dependent children, parents and parents in law. (For Family Floater Insurance Policy- Family means the spouse and dependent children)
  • Policy Term: 1, 2 or 3 years.
  • Sum Insured: Minimum SI: INR 1,00,000 and Maximum SI: INR 50,00,000 subject to underlying deductible ranging from INR 1,00,000 to INR 10,00,000. Sum Insured of dependents will either be less than or equal to Proposer/ Primary Insured’s Sum Insured.

Room boarding and Nursing charges, ICU Charges 1%/day for Non ICU and 2%/day for ICU. All incremental Expenses pertaining to room rent, medical practitioners / specialists fees and other incidental Expenses to be borne by the insured.
Pre-hospitalisation Expenses Coverage 30 days prior to date of admission into the hospital.

Medical Practitioner and Specialists Fees.
Anesthesia, Blood, Oxygen, Operation Theatre charges, Surgical Appliances, Medicines and Drugs, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Materials and X-ray, Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Cost of Pacemaker, Prosthesis/Internal Implants and any medical expenses incurred which is integral part of the operation.

Exclusions

  • The Company will not be liable under the Policy in respect of payment towards treatment taken due to:
  • Any condition, ailment or injury or related condition(s) for which you have been diagnosed, received medical treatment, had signs and / or symptoms, prior to inception of your first policy, until 48 consecutive months have elapsed, after the date of inception of the first policy with us.
  • Any disease contracted during the first 30 days of commencement of the policy.
  • Certain diseases/surgeries like Hernia, Hydrocele etc shall be covered after a waiting period of 1 year.
  • Treatment with alternative medicines like acupuncture, acupressure, osteopath, naturopathy, chiropractic, reflexology and aromatherapy.
  • Treatment arising from or traceable to pregnancy (whether uterine or extra uterine) and childbirth including caesarean section, and/or any treatment related to prenatal and postnatal care.
  • Congenital diseases

Coverage

Only one Critical Illness claim can be allowed by us during the lifetime of the Insured. The Critical Illness policy terminates immediately on the payment of first Critical Illness benefit under the policy. The maximum benefit amount under Critical Illness cover to any individual is INR 5,000,000 including all policies that are issued by the Insurer.
The minimum age of entry for SBI General’s Critical Illness Insurance Policy is 18 years, while the maximum age is 65 years.

Exclusions

The following exclusions shall apply to the benefits admissible under this policy and No benefit shall be paid for the following circumstances and for the following conditions/ tests/ treatments.

  • Pre- Existing disease, related condition(s) & complications.
  • Waiting period of 90 days from the date of issuance of the policy.
  • Any congenital Illness / conditions.
  • Attempted suicide (whether sane or insane) or intentionally self inflicted Injury or Illness.
  • Sexually transmitted conditions, mental or nervous disorder, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), Human Immune deficiency Virus (HIV) infection
  • Being under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicants or hallucinogens unless properly prescribed by a Medical Practitioner and taken as prescribed

Plan Options

  • The SBI General’s Critical Illness Insurance Policy is available in two Plan Options.
    • 1 year Plan
    • 3 year Plan
  • The minimum coverage available under this policy is for Rs. 2,00,000 and the maximum is for Rs. 50,00,000 subject to the following terms.
  • The maximum sum insured would be restricted to 60 months gross income for the Insured or maximum of Rs. 50,00,000 provided, proposer is the earning member of the family and in such cases, we may insist for income proof, if required.
  • In case of non earning Insured sum insured would be restricted to 50% of Sum Insured up to a maximum of Rs. 10,00,000 based on the Income of the proposer.
  • Based on Medical history, Sum Insured and age, the proposer may have to undergo a Medical Examination. For proposed insured persons who are aged above 45 years, the acceptance of proposal is subject to a satisfactory medical examination as per our company’s requirements, irrespective of sum insured chosen.
  • Pre-acceptance medical tests will be at the cost of the proposer. However, if the proposal is accepted the Insurer will reimburse 50% of the cost incurred towards the medical tests so undertaken at the advice of the insurer.
  • The Maximum Sum Insured would be restricted to Rs. 15,00,000 for insured persons aged 60 and above and taking a policy with us for the first time.

Coverage

In the event of Accidental Bodily Injury or Sickness first occurring or manifesting itself during the Policy Period and causing the Insured’s Hospitalisation, a hospitalization benefit will be payable as per the conditions below and subject to the Deductible as defined:

  • Hospitalisation: Hospital Daily Cash benefit for each continuous and completed period of 24 hours of hospitalization.
  • Hospitalisation in ICU: Twice the Hospital Daily Cash benefit for each continuous and completed period of 24 hours of Hospitalisation within the Intensive Care Unit. This is applicable for a maximum of 7 days per Hospitalisation subject to maximum of 15 days per Policy Period.
  • Hospitalisation due to accidental bodily injury: Twice the Hospital Daily Cash benefit for each continuous and completed period of 24 hours of Hospitalisation necessitated solely by reason of the said Accidental Bodily Injury. This is applicable for a maximum of 5 days per Hospitalisation subject to maximum of 10 days per Policy Period.
  • Hospitalisation for consecutive days: Thrice Hospital Daily Cash benefit or Rs 5,000 whichever is less is payable upon completion of 10 consecutive days of hospitalization in a single admission for convalescence. This benefit is payable only once in a Policy Period.
  • Maximum benefit payable: The maximum benefit payable will be 30/60 days as stated in Insured’s schedule within any Policy Period.
  • Deductible: Deductible equivalent to the first 24 hours Hospitalization benefit will be levied on each and every Hospitalisation during the Policy Period.

The Minimum age of entry for SBI General’s Health Insurance Policy is 18 years. However Children from the age of 3 months can be covered subject to both parents concurrently covered with SBI General. The Maximum age of entry for the policy is 65 years. The Maximum benefit amount payable is Rs 2,000 per day. However, the Maximum Benefit would be restricted to Rs 500 per day with maximum coverage of 30 days for insured persons aged 60 and above and taking a policy with us for the first time. Pre-acceptance Health check is not mandatory for people who are less than 60 years old and without any history of illness. Insured’s with following condition, acceptance of proposal is subject to a satisfactory medical examination as per our company’s requirements:

Special Exclusions

Section I- Critical Illness

  • Any pre-existing illness
  • Any critical illness discovered within 90 days of the policy
  • Self medication; treatment not administered by a doctor or which is not medically necessary
  • Congenital illness or defects and/or treatment administered for them
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy; contraceptive procedures
  • Gender change or cosmetic surgery or treatment/procedures associated with the same
  • Self medication; unauthorized treatment

Section II- Personal Accident

  • Payment under more than one category specified i.e Death or Permanent Total Displacement
  • Any infirmity/conditions existing before the inception of the policy
  • Persons learning to operate an aircraft or operating as crew or participating in adventure sports including winter sports, hazardous activities and the like
  • Death or permanent total disability arising out of illness
  • Venereal diseases or insanity

Section III- Loss of Job

  • Termination, dismissal, temporary suspension or retrenchment due to fraud or dishonesty, poor performance
  • Businessmen; persons who are self employed
  • Employees on casual, temporary or contractual basis
  • Unemployment due to resignation, retirement whether voluntary or otherwise
  • Unemployment at inception or arising within first 90 days of Inception
